Digital printing and hand embroidery
In plastic surgeries boundaries from internal to external are eliminated. Everything is mixed: organs with fluids with skin and they are modified. The skin is a fragile container. The orifices on the body work as frames and in cosmetic surgeries when the skin is ‘cut’ new edges appear. Blood and fat, that cause repulsion, come out of the ‘processed’ bodies.
The patterns come from the idea of mapping and operating on the body. In cosmetic surgeries the body is fragmented and the parts are re-thought, re-moved and re-positioned to be exhibited. Drawings are made from close-ups of plastic surgeries that have completely distorted the face, that has transformed any physical attribute (such as hair implants) or that have caused irritations and disgusting wounds. Then, they are printed digitally or hand embroidered making a relation with the clinical stitch and the tapestry or traditional embroidery.
